Terms and Conditions of booking at Higher Carthew Farm Holiday Cottages
Bookings
Should you wish to book one of our cottages, please refer to the availability page on our website, give us a telephone call or email us with your query. This gives an indication of the current booking position, but is not a guarantee of availability.
We do recommend you take out some holiday insurance.
All bookings are subject to our terms and conditions which are shown below.
Reservation
A provisional reservation will be held for 7 days. If we have not received your completed and signed booking form with the appropriate deposit within 7 days, we regret that your reservation will lapse.
Deposit
If a booking is made more than four weeks before the holiday starts, a non-refundable £100 deposit of the full rent must be paid. The balance is payable no later than four weeks before the start date. If your holiday begins less than the four weeks from the time of booking the full rent is payable immediately.
Cancellation
In the event of cancellation less than eight weeks before a holiday begins, the whole rent is payable unless we succeed in re-letting. With more than eight weeks’ notice, the deposit only would be forfeit.
Arrival and Departure
All holidays start and finish on either a Friday or Saturday (except as agreed for out-of-season short breaks). All cottages tenancies commence at 4 p.m. on the first day and terminate at 9 a.m. on the day of departure.
Short Breaks
Short breaks are available for all properties during low season (November to the end of March excluding school holiday peak periods). A minimum of 3 nights is required. Please contact us if you require more details.
COVID 19
We request that if at any point during your stay you or your partner show any Covid 19 signs/symptoms you inform us immediately and make your way home for a test. Also, if you are contacted via the NHS track and trace Cornwall Public Protection advice is that you are required to self-isolate at your main place of residence/where you normally live.
We (Higher Carthew Farm) will not be held liable for any extra costs incurred from late departures.
We have an enhanced our already rigorous cleaning routine and will disinfect door handles, light switches and contact points following the PASC UK cleaning guidelines as well as having a risk assessment in place.
Parking
There is parking for one car outside each cottage (clearly signposted) for all properties.
Electric Vehicle Charging
Please note, we (Higher Carthew Farm) do not have the sufficient infrastructure for charging any electric vehicles.
Smoking
We regret that our properties are available to non-smoking guests only.
Pets
We regret that no pets are permitted in our properties.
Electricity, Central Heating, Logs & Linen
Electricity is included in the rent, as is central heating. Logs for the wood burner are available to purchase on the farm, your first basket is free of charge. Bed linen, towels and tea towels are provided. Please note beach towels are not provided.

Liability
Higher Carthew Farm shall not be liable for any loss, damage, expense, accident, injury or inconvenience whether to person or property which the applicant or any other person may suffer or sustain arising out of or in respect of any letting.
Governing Law
The contract embodied in the booking is governed by English law, and subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
Complaints
We try to take every care to prepare our properties to a standard whereby our visitors will enjoy their holidays. If a problem or cause for complaint does arise, please let us know immediately. Every effort will then be made to assist you. It is frustrating for all parties if you write after your holiday to tell us about a problem that could have been solved at the time.
